Getting Started

This web application is optimized to work with Google Chrome.

This will not work in Internet Explorer!

Before you can use the reporting tool of this dashboard, ensure you have a .CSV file that has been exported from RedCAP (with labels)

Selecting a Data File

Click on 'Choose File' and select a .CSV file from your computer.

Here's a link to a dummy data file you can download.

Choosing a Hospital ID

Select your hospital from the Drop-Down menu.

Selecting a Date Range

Choose a Start Date and End Date for the reports to be created.

Creating the Reports

After you have selected a hospital and date range, click 'Submit' button to generate the Hospital Report and State Report.

Control Charts

The mean is the green center line.

The control limits (dashed lines) are 3σ away from the mean.

Data points that fall outside the control limits are colored red.

Placing your cursor over any data point or center line will reveal a tooltip

Funnel Plots

The mean is the green center line.

The inner control limits (with long dashed lines) are 2σ away from the mean.

The outer control limits (with short dashed lines) are 3σ away from the mean.

The orange data point represents your hospital.

Box and Whisker Plots

The median is the thin black line towards the middle of each box.

The quartile ranges (or whiskers) are represented by the dashed lines above and below each box.

The total range (1st and 4th quartiles) are represented by the whiskers (or dashed lines) above and below each box.

Any outliers are shown as empty circles in the same column as each box.

Hovering your mouse over any box will reveal the values of the quartile ranges.

Checking the 'Show Box and Whiskers Label' will make the values always visible.

Tool Tips

Placing your cursor over any data point or center line will reveal additional data for that point.

Toggle Date Range

Change the 'Start Date' and 'End Date' fields then click 'Refresh' to draw the chart with a new date range

Chart Types

Selecting a chart type from the first drop down will populate the X and Y variable drop downs.

There are three types of charts:

• Control Charts

• Box and Whisker Plots

• Funnel Plots

X- and Y-Axis Variables

The center drop down selects your Y-Axis variable.

The right-most drop down selects your X-Axis variable.

Chart Labels

Fill in the leftmost text box to set the Chart Title

Fill in the center text box to set the Y-Axis Label

Fill in the rightmost text box to set the X-Axis Label

Create Charts

After selecting a Chart Type, Hospital ID, Y Axis Variable, X Axis Variable, and Date Range, click 'Submit' to create the chart.

Where do I get a CSV File to upload to the dashboard?

To use the dashboard, you must download an exported CSV file from RedCAP.

Log into RedCAP.

Click 'My Projects' from the top menu.

Select the 'Statewide Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Improvement Project' project.'

Click 'Data Exports, Reports, and Stats' (listed under Applications) on the left menu.

Click 'Export Data' (next to the All Data report).

Choose the 'CSV / Microsoft Excel (labels)' Export Format.

Click 'Export Data' on the bottom right.

What do the error messages mean that pop up when I upload my CSV file?

These error messages occur when the application cannot find one or more columns of data in the CSV file to generate the reports.

If the error box is red, this means you cannot generate any reports until this is resolved.

If the error box is yellow, this means certain charts may not generate.

You can resolve the issue by selecting the item(s) from the drop down menu that represents the missing data.

How do I print a chart to a PDF?

Click one of the print buttons on the top right.

In Google Chrome, change your Printer Destination to 'Save as PDF'

In Mozilla FireFox, click the PDF drop down on the bottom left, and then select 'Save as PDF...'

What does the 'Only Use Data Rows That Are Complete' checkbox do?

These error messages occur when the application cannot find one or more columns of data in the CSV file to generate the reports.

Why does it say 'No Data Available' instead of displaying a chart?

If there is not enough data to populate a chart, this error message is displayed.

However, this message may also appear if you do not resolve any CSV Errors.
